Changing the Leadership Landscape across Bristol

Prof. Christine Bamford, on behalf of Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol and Cllr Asher Craig, Deputy Mayor, has led the establishment of Stepping up a BAME leadership talent pipeline across the city of Bristol.

The aim is to change the leadership landscape across Bristol so it more readily reflects the population.  Currently the statistics are showing there is little representation of BAME individuals at senior level in the public and private sector.

41 organisations have pledged their support for the programme by searching for talent, providing venues, mentoring, speakers and a stretch assignment for participants.

Organisations pledging support include MOD, Avon & Somerset Police, KPMG, NHS North Bristol Trust, Bristol Community Health, NHS CCG, NHS Leadership Academy, Oracle, Burges Salmon, Osborn Clarke, Bristol Energy, Bristol Waste, Plimsol Production, Hargreaves Landsdown, VOSCUR, University of Bristol and University of West of England.

CIPD will be partnering with Stepping Up to provide Masterclasses for HR Professionals in Bristol to share good practice in Inclusive recruitment and internal talent management.

The programme will commence on 22/23rd January with around 35 participants.

The Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Baroness McGregor will formally launch the programme on 22nd January.
